We like our products like we like our friends: non-toxic!

From the food we eat and products we use to the people we invite into our lives –– we like the idea of treating every bit of ourselves with love.

When it comes to skin, hair, and bathing goods we might know a thing or two about how to make products that are non-toxic and safe for the environment!

When it comes to DEODORANTS, avoid:

❌ Aluminum compounds
Aluminum plugs the sweat gland to minimize perspiration, but studies have linked frequent exposure to high levels of aluminum to neurotoxicity, Alzheimer's disease, and breast cancer. No thanks!

 Alcohol
Many antiperspirants and deodorants contain alcohol, which is used to dissolve ingredients and help the product dry quickly when applied. Alcohol can kill some of the bacteria that forms odor, but it also dries out and irritates skin. Blegh!

❌ Parabens
Parabens are synthetic compounds that are used to control bacteria, fungus, and other unwanted microbes. But when absorbed by the skin, parabens mimic the effects of estrogen in the body and disrupt hormone function. Not here.

For HAIR & BODY PRODUCTS, avoid:

❌ Synthetic Fragrances
"Synthetic fragrance" covers any and all kinds of engineered perfuming agents. These volatile irritants contain thousands of chemical ingredients (including known allergens and identified hormone disruptors). Yikes!

 Parabens (again) & Phthalates
Parabens are often used as preservatives for skincare products to prolong their shelf lives, while phthalates like DBP, DEHP, and DEP are used to soften plastics and penetrate the skin better. Both of these compounds can get absorbed into the body and because they are hormone disruptors, they could adversely affect regular reproductive function over time. Outta here!

 Petrolatum & Mineral Oil
Mineral oil, which is a byproduct of petroleum, is often found in cosmetics, lotions, and creams. It might be able to keep moisture locked in, but it can also clog your pores, leading to inflammation and acne. Since mineral oil is not easily absorbed, it lingers on top of your skin and can make you more susceptible to higher UV ray penetration, which means: sun damage. In addition, these products comes from crude oil which means they are not a renewable resource. Not for us!
